How A4A can help

Support starts with understanding your situation

At Attorneys 4 All (A4A), we believe that strong families, protected children, and empowered women are essential foundations for a just and peaceful society. Our Domestic Relations programme is dedicated to addressing sensitive family-related legal challenges, particularly those affecting vulnerable women, children, and disadvantaged individuals. We provide compassionate and professional legal assistance in matters involving domestic violence, sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), child abuse, child maintenance, custody disputes, divorce, inheritance disputes, and other family-related conflicts. Recognising the emotional, social, and financial difficulties associated with these matters, A4A adopts a victim-centred and rights-based approach that prioritises dignity, confidentiality, protection, and the best interests of children while ensuring that justice remains accessible to those who cannot afford legal representation.

Guided by Sierra Leone's Domestic Violence Act 2007, Child Rights Act 2025, Sexual Offences Act 2012 (as amended in 2019), and other applicable family laws, A4A provides free legal advice, appropriate mediation, legal representation, and court monitoring to safeguard the rights of vulnerable individuals. Through strategic partnerships and referral mechanisms involving the Sierra Leone Police’s Family Support Unit and the Directorate of Gender and Community Affairs, the Ministry of Social Welfare, the Ministry of Gender and Children's Affairs, the Human Rights Commission, and various humanitarian organisations, we promote coordinated responses to domestic and family-related injustices. Our interventions extend beyond the courtroom to include community sensitisation, legal rights education, confidential case management, and referrals for psychosocial and protective services. Through these efforts, we seek to prevent abuse, strengthen accountability, encourage peaceful resolution of appropriate family disputes, and ensure that survivors receive the protection and support they deserve.

At A4A, we recognise that access to justice in domestic relations is not merely about resolving legal disputes; it is about protecting lives, restoring dignity, preserving fundamental rights, and rebuilding hope. We are committed to breaking the barriers of poverty, fear, discrimination, and social stigma that often prevent vulnerable individuals from seeking justice. By advocating for the protection of women, children and vulnerable persons, promoting responsible family relationships, and strengthening collaboration with justice and social welfare institutions, we strive to create safer homes, stronger communities, and a society where every individual is treated with fairness and respect. Domestic Relations remains central to our mission of "Access to Justice for All," because justice must begin where people live, grow, and build their families.
